Two separate Easter morning shootings, autopsies completed

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Autopsies have been completed regarding two separate fatal shootings Easter morning.

First, at about 5:00 a.m., Fort Wayne police were called to a home in the 3000 block of Abbott Street, just northwest of the Diplomat Apartments. Once there they found a man down. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Allen County Coroner has identified the victim as Shawn Ware, 45, of Fort Wayne.

The cause of death was ruled as gunshot wound(s) and the manner of death was ruled a homicide. Ware is the 11th homicide in Allen County for 2018.

About five hours later Easter morning, officers were called to The Summit at Ridgewood Apartments on reports of gunshots and screams. They found another man on the ground between two apartment buildings, also suffering from gunshots. He was shortly after pronounced dead.

The Allen County Coroner has identified the victim as Javon Burnett, 26, of Fort Wayne. The cause of death was ruled as gunshot wound(s) and the manner of death was ruled as a homicide. Burnett is the 12th homicide in Allen County for 2018.

Meantime, both incidents continue to be investigated.
