FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): One of Fort Wayne’s Walgreens locations will be closing on February 23rd.
The Southgate Plaza location on E. Pettit is apparently one of 200 that will be closing nationwide. That’s according to the Journal Gazette, who got the info from a Fort Wayne City Council member.
The store is underperforming, according to a company spokesman, who told the paper prescription records will be transferred to the 1701 E. Paulding location, while pointing out there are more than a dozen other Walgreens stores in the city.
The spokesman added that efforts are being made to help the store’s employees transfer to other stores.
The move is a blow to Mayor Tom Henry’s push to boost business development in the city’s south side.
