Fort Wayne Hires Michigan Firm to Bring More South Side Business

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The City of Fort Wayne wants to bring more retail business to Fort Wayne's southside.

Mayor Tom Henry announced Wednesday that the city has hired a Michigan-based firm to bring new business what officials say is an underserved area. Under terms of the seven month deal, Indigo Centers will be paid $5,000 a month to market these areas.

One of the first items of business is to spread the word at a major shopping center convention next week in New York City.  A study completed last winter suggests the southside of the city could support as many as 120 new retail businesses. Those businesses include stores and restaurants.
