Shuttered Fort Wayne movie theater to make way for apartments

holiday movie releases

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne movie theater that shut down earlier this year will be torn down.

The 13-screen Apollo Coventry Cinemas was closed down by the Fort Wayne/Allen County Health Department back in February after failing a number of inspections thanks to human and animal waste, mold on the seats, debris on the floors and a leaking roof, among other problems.

The property went up for sale in March, and an Indianapolis-area developer is making plans to build an apartment complex in its place, according to the Journal Gazette.

Manager John Hennessee is also connected to several other Fort Wayne apartment complexes.
