FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Press Release): The 2019 IBM Watson Health 100 Top Hospitals list includes multiple Parkview Health hospitals: Parkview Noble Hospital, Parkview Whitley Hospital, and Parkview Regional Medical Center & Affiliates, which includes Parkview Regional Medical Center, Parkview Hospital Randallia and Parkview Behavioral Health.

The study spotlights the top-performing hospitals in the United States based on a balanced scorecard of publicly available clinical, operational and patient satisfaction metrics and data.

Additionally, Parkview Regional Medical Center & Affiliates and Parkview Whitley Hospital earned the Everest Award, an honor for hospitals on the list that have achieved both the highest current performance and the fastest long-term improvement over five years. Only 15 hospitals in the country earned the Everest Award for 2019.

Parkview Noble Hospital earned the award for the second year in a row, and Parkview Whitley Hospital is celebrating its first year of recognition – both are part of the “Small Community Hospitals” list.

Parkview Medical Center & Affiliates, which has been recognized four times in the award’s history, is part of the “Teaching Hospitals” list. The Watson Health 100 Top Hospitals study uses independent and objective research to analyze hospital and health system performance in 10 clinical and operational areas: risk-adjusted inpatient mortality index, risk-adjusted complications index, mean healthcare-associated infection index, mean 30-day risk-adjusted mortality rate, mean 30-day risk-adjusted readmission rate, severity-adjusted length of stay, mean emergency department throughput, case mix- and wage-adjusted inpatient expense per discharge, adjusted operating profit margin, and HCAHPS score (patient rating of overall hospital performance).

The study has been conducted annually since 1993.
