La Cabreah annexation now facing questions

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): It looks like some of those in the La Cabreah neighborhood want to take back their vote to voluntary annex themselves into the city of Fort Wayne.

Early last month, more than half of the property owners living in the unincorporated portion of the neighborhood off of Dupont Road voted to petition the City for annexation, which would bring 174 residential properties and about 105 acres inside the city limits.

But now people who voted for it, like Chris Bohlman, tell our partners in news at ABC 21 they’re not sure they made the right call:

“I want to see what the additional information brings, and I may come back and say, you know what, I’d like to pull my…or rescind my voluntary annexation.”

Some people say arguments in favor of annexation may have been only partially true, such as a higher tax hike than expected. There’s a neighborhood meeting Thursday night, where more information will be shared, and people can choose to reverse their vote.

The City and it’s tentacles will get you sooner or later.
