NOBLE COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): The Orange Township Fire Department is urging anyone still in the West Lakes Area to evacuate immediately due to rising water.

The announcement comes after officials held a meeting Saturday night to assess the situation as water is rising at the Sylvan Lake dam. Some places are only accessible by boat due to rising water. Officials at the Sylvan Lake Conservation District say they remain on Level 3-Watch status due to the high water. A No-motor order is also still in effect for the lake.

Another issue is a sinkhole that formed Saturday evening, forcing the West Lake Sewer System to be shut off on the north side of Waldron Lake and all of Jones Lake.

The American Red Cross has a temporary shelter in place for those affected by the flooding. That shelter is at the Rome City Elementary School at 400 Jefferson Street. Residents need to bring a form of identification.
