KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): We now know the name of the deputy who opened fire on a possible “road rage” suspect in North Webster this week.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police have identified Deputy Don McCune as the officer involved in the incident that happened last Wednesday in North Webster.

McCune was trying to pull over two drivers involved in a “road rage” incident, during which the two men shot at each other, when his car collided with the vehicle of 24-year-old Alexander D. Jackson of Milford, sending it crashing into a building. He then shot Milford while approaching his truck, but details as to why McCune opened fire haven’t been released. The man was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

McCune has been with the Sheriff’s Department since May, 1995. Before that he was a road officer and jailer for Elkhart County. He’s currently on administrative leave while the investigation continues, but Sheriff Aaron Rovenstine said he trusts McCune’s judgment and sides with his deputy.
