FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Indiana Economic Development Corporation has approved another big project to be paid for by northeast Indiana’s Regional Cities grant.

Trine University is looking to build an ice hockey arena and 3,000-seat events center on its campus in Angola, and the Journal Gazette reports the IDEC has approved $2.8-million for the projects, which will cost a total of $18.9-million.

The University wasn’t included in the Road to One Million proposal that won the grant money for northeast Indiana last year, but neither was the Skyline Tower project in downtown Fort Wayne, which also received $2.8-million in May.

A total of $42-million was awarded to the region last December for projects that promote population and economic growth.
