Working Group advises against refund for Red River customers

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): There seems to be a divide between members of the Fort Wayne City Council and Mayor Tom Henry’s working group on fixing the city’s garbage and recycling collection service.

Last month the Council talked about the possibility of providing refunds for city customers who have had to deal with problems with trash pickups since Red River Waste Solutions took the job in January.

The Journal Gazette reports Red River has been fined more than $542,000 so far this year for the issues, but working group member Adrienne Maurer told the Council Tuesday night they felt that the city’s fines haven’t made a difference, and neither would a refund.

Councilman Russ Jehl called that assertion an “insult” to taxpayers.

Red River is under contract with the city through 2025.

Typical liberal approach by Mayor Henry. No accountability for red river. The fines don’t appear to have helped resolve the problems. I’m not sure exactly what the contract dictates regarding missed pick-ups but if there’s not a gradual severity of the fines up to and including nullification of the contract than the individual(s) responsible should publicly take the heat for it.
