FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A longtime Fort Wayne landmark is closing.

The University of St. Francis will be closing its 75-seat planetarium in the Achatz Hall of Science this summer for a renovation into a study and socializing area, according to the Journal Gazette.

The school made the decision to close the planetarium, which was built in 1969, after learning it needed an estimated $250,000 in upgrades.

Students will be able to use a new telescope being installed on the roof of the building.
