UPDATED: Suspect arrested in shooting of Ohio state trooper

FINDLAY, Ohio (WOWO): Police arrested a man Thursday wanted in the shooting of an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper.

Robert Hathorn’s vehicle was found behidn a business on County Road 140 near Township Road 89. At about 1:30 p.m., Hathorn was caught on County Road 223 near Trenton Ave. in Findlay.

Trooper Josef Brobst has serious but not life-threatening injuries from the shooting.

EARLIER (AP): Police on Thursday were searching for a suspect in the shooting of a state trooper during a traffic stop in northwest Ohio.

Trooper Josef Brobst had pulled over a vehicle for speeding on Interstate 75 near Findlay around 1:30 a.m. when the suspect scuffled with Brobst, grabbed the trooper’s gun and shot him, the Attorney General’s Office said.

The trooper, Josef Brobst, was taken to a hospital and his injuries were not considered life-threatening, the highway patrol said.

Police were seeking Robert Tramaine Hathorn, 42. He is considered armed and dangerous and is described as a black male with brown eyes, standing 5’10” and weighing 225 pounds.

He was driving a black 2016 Chevrolet Suburban with Michigan license plate C7482198.

No other information was available.
