FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): If you’ve got a car sitting on the side of the road, you might want to get it moved today.

The Indiana State Police in Fort Wayne says they’ll begin clearing abandoned vehicles from State Roads, Interstates, and U.S. Highways in advance of the approaching snow forecast for tonight and into tomorrow morning.

The ISP says contrary to the usual practice of tagging abandoned vehicles for 24 or 72 hours, all abandoned vehicles are being towed to reduce the risk to other drivers and to allow snow removal equipment to safely clear the roadways.

All major highway systems in the 11 county coverage area of the Fort Wayne District shown below will be given priority. If your vehicle is towed from one of the major roadways in any of these counties, contact the Fort Wayne Post at (260) 432-8661 for assistance in locating it.
