Southeast Fort Wayne shooting reported Saturday night

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO):  A woman has died after a shooting on the southeast side of Fort Wayne.

Police say they received reports of shots fired near Colerick Street and Holton Avenue around 11:50 p.m. Saturday.  When they arrived they found two people inside of a vehicle, just east of Reed St. on Colerick, that prompted an immediate call for help.

The first victim was a woman reported in critical condition, but she later died at a local hospital around 1 a.m.  She’s been identified as 31-year-old Erin Lawson of Fort Wayne. Lawson is the 40th homicide victim of the year in Allen County.

There was also a man in the car who was transported to the hospital and last listed in serious condition. They say he has non life threatening injuries.

The name of the female victim has not been released, and the incident remains in hands of the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Coroner’s office and the Allen County Prosecutor’s office.
