FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne businessman officially threw his name into the running for Mayor of Fort Wayne.

We’ve known since last year about both Republican candidates for this year’s primaries, but just like Councilman Dr. John Crawford made it official last week, Tim Smith yesterday made his campaign official.

He said in a press release immediately after filing that he’s running because he expects more out of local government and cites his experience running MedPro Group as proof he can apply business principles to lead Fort Wayne.

Smith and Crawford will face off in a primary on May 7th, and the winner will likely run against incumbent Mayor Tom Henry in November.
