Signing Day for Bishop Dwenger seniors committing to play sports in college

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO):  Eleven Bishop Dwenger seniors have committed to playing sports at the next level.

With a ceremony at at the school gym on Tuesday, the future collegiate athletes were surrounded by friends and family.  The students who committed were:

  • Noah Benzing signed with Trine University, in Angola, Indiana, where he will continue his athletic career in Baseball, and study Sports management. Benzing was on the 2014-2015 SAC sectional champions Baseball team, he is also involved in FBLA and the National Honors Society.
  • Louis Garrett signed with Ave Maria University, in Ave Maria, Florida, where he will be playing Football and Baseball. Garrett was on the 2015 state champions’ football team, and the 2014 regional champions’ baseball team and the 2015 sectional champions in baseball.
  • Rachel Gibson signed with Indiana Wesleyan University, in Marion, Indiana, where she will continue her athletic career in Track, and study business and accounting. Rachel was on the 4×4 state qualifier relay team in 2015. She also set a new school record in the 200 meter dash in 2015.
  • Jeremy Herber signed with the University of Saint Francis, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he will continue his athletic career in Football while studying Physical therapy. Herber was on the 2015 state champion Football team. He was also in 1st team all Diocese, 1st team all-SAC, and 1st team all Northeast Indiana.
  • Patrick Holly signed with Marian University, in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he will continue his athletic career in Tennis, and study accounting. Holly was on the 2012, 2013, and 2015 SAC champion Tennis team. He was also a part of the 2012-2015 sectional champions team.
  • Parker Noll signed with Wabash College, in Crawfordsville, Indiana, where he will continue his athletic career in Baseball plans to study Political Science. Noll was on the SAC and Sectional Champion teams in 2014 and 2015. He is also involved in Habitat for Humanity, the Honor Society and was awarded the Mother Theresa award.
  • Zack Norton signed with the University of Saint Francis, Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he will continue his athletic career in Football and studying Business. Norton was on the 2015 state champion Football team and the 2nd team all SAC 2015.
  • John Pollifrone signed with Bradley University, in Peoria, Illinois, where he will continue his athletic career in soccer and major in Criminal Justice and Pre-Law. Pollifrone was on the 2015 SAC champions’ soccer team and the 2015 SAC player of the year. He is also involved in Key club, Spirit club and the Honor Society.
  • Andrew Rolfsen signed with Anderson University, in Anderson, Indiana, where he will continue his athletic career in Baseball while studying Accounting and Finance. Rolfsen was on the 2012 regional and state champion Baseball team and was All-County in Florida in 2013.
  • Ian Stroud signed with Walsh University, in North Canton, Ohio, where he will continue his athletic career in Lacrosse. Stroud was on the Indiana Club Champions team in 2015. He is also a National Honor Society member and a recipient of the Mother Theresa award.
  • Bryson Tretter signed with Marian University, in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he will continue his athletic career in Track and Cross country, and begin studying pre-Med and Chemistry. Tretter was on the SAC champion team 2012-2014 and the regional finalist team in 2015. He is a member of the FBLA, a BD scholar and a recipient of the Mother Theresa award.
