Shelters brace for increased capacity due to cold

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): People in need are being urged to find shelter as we stare down some sub-zero temperatures that are coming next week.

The Rescue Mission in Fort Wayne is expecting more people to spend the night there than usual due to the cold temperatures that are projected to bring wind chills of 40 below zero next week.

“We don’t want anybody to endure that cold of weather. I lived in Indiana most of my life…I mean that’s cold. They can actually come in here and get on a cot and have a blanket and a pillow and actually be warm while they sleep,” Rescue Mission worker Jared Ballenger tells our Partners in News at ABC 21.

To find other warming shelters, call 211 within Fort Wayne City Limits for help or check this list.
