Semi slams into Mercer County home

ROCKFORD, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio woman says she was getting her children ready for the day when a semitrailer crashed straight into their home, causing severe damage but no serious injuries to the family or the driver.

The Dayton Daily News reports authorities are investigating what caused the truck to plow into the home Wednesday morning in the Mercer County village of Rockford, several miles from the Indiana state line.

Raeh Harrod says she dug through rubble on her bed in search of her 2-year-old daughter before discovering the girl apparently had been knocked into a closet. Harrod says a 5-year-old had walked out of the room just before the crash.

Aside from bumps and bruises, she says everyone was OK.

The truck driver climbed out of the cab through a window.
