ROCHESTER, Ind. (WOWO): A 24-year-old woman has been arrested after passing a stopped school bus and hitting four children trying to board it, killing three of them.

It happened Tuesday morning at about 7:15am on State Road 25 near Rochester. The Indiana State Police says a school bus had stopped in front of a mobile home park to pick up children from the west side of the road when 24-year-old Alyssa Shepherd allegedly disregarded the bus’s stop arm and exterior lighting and ended up hitting four children with her truck.

Three children:  Xzavier Ingle, his twin brother, Mason Ingle, both 6, and their sister, Alivia Stahl, 9, all died at the scene.  Maverik Lowe, 11, was airlifted to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne. At last check, he was in surgery with multiple broken bones and internal injuries.

Shepherd was arrested at her place of employment on three felony charges of reckless homicide and a misdemeanor count for passing a school bus, with the stop arm extended, causing injury. She was being held in the Fulton County Jail with a surety bond of $15,000.
