FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A plan to put a road right through the middle of an outdoor mall in Fort Wayne has been delayed… for now.
RED Development, the owners of Jefferson Pointe, had requested permission from the Fort Wayne Plan Commission to install the street to allow for more parking and easier vehicle access to stores in the pedestrian-focused shopping center.
The News-Sentinel reports they’ve now withdrawn that proposal to give themselves more time to find funding sources for the project, which might be expanded in order to qualify for public funding.
The owners have also promised that, if they move forward with installing the road at a later date, the fountain in the center of the mall would remain untouched.
