Plan to install road through Jefferson Pointe receives continuance

(WOWO News)

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A plan that would put a road right through the middle of an outdoor mall in Fort Wayne will have to wait a while longer.

The project proposed for Jefferson Pointe was granted a 60-day continuance during Monday night’s Fort Wayne Planning Commission meeting.

The shopping center’s owners say the street, which would include a roundabout at the fountain in the heart of Jefferson Pointe, would make for easier access to some stores and would also create about 30 storefront parking spaces.

Some say the change would make things a little less safe for shoppers.

(An earlier version of this story, citing an outside source, reported that the project had been presented to the Fort Wayne Planning Commission. That was inaccurate and the story has been revised to reflect that.)

With any luck these new parking spaces will be handicapped parking spots to improve the ADA issues that have prevented a lot of us with physical disabilities from shopping there!
