FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Another year, another accolade for Parkview Field.
Ballpark Digest announced Monday that Parkview Field, home of the Fort Wayne TinCaps, has been voted the best Class A ballpark in the country, edging out McCormick Field in the final round of voting done by visitors to the magazine’s website.
Parkview Field beat out 29 other ballparks across the country, including Four Winds Field in South Bend.
Ballpark Digest says those who voted included members of the media, baseball fans, and those who work in the baseball industry.
“We’re extremely appreciative of everyone who took the time to support Parkview Field in this competition,” TinCaps President Mike Nutter said. “We’re proud to see our ballpark honored by a national source like Ballpark Digest which does such a great job covering the sport of baseball. It’s nice to know that Parkview Field is highly thought of not only around Fort Wayne, but all over.”
Through Sunday, the TinCaps have averaged 5,534 fans at Parkview Field per game in 2016. Fort Wayne’s average attendance is currently better than 28 Double-A teams and 14 Triple-A franchises, and ranks second among Single-A teams behind only Dayton.
