New details released on Monday morning fire at Fort Wayne church

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne church caught fire Monday morning.

Fort Wayne firefighters were called to the Unity Worship Center on the corner of Baxter Street and Holton Avenue just after 10:30 a.m.

Once at the scene, crews noticed fire emitting from multiple parts of the building.

Extra firefighters were called to the scene due to the severity of the fire; fire was found on multiple floors of the building.

Crews first applied water to the exterior to knock the fire down to a reasonable level before making entry into the building with hose lines and extinguishing the blaze.

The fire was under control within an hour, and its cause is still under investigation.

There were no reports of injuries.
