Multiple dog food brands recalled for euthanasia drug contamination

NATIONWIDE, (WOWO) – The J.M. Smucker Co. has recalled 27 different pet food products after reports of contamination by a euthanasia drug, according to Food Safety News.

Pentobarbital, a tranquilizer often used for putting down sick or fatally injured animals, was found in some of the company’s Gravy Train, Kibbles ‘N Bits, Skippy and Ol’ Roy dog food.

Smucker has asked retailers to remove the dog food from their warehouses, but a consumer-level product recall has not yet been initiated.

An FDA spokesperson states the pentobarbital contamination is low, and is unlikely to pose health risks.

Smucker has not yet stated how the products became contaminated, nor has the company revealed whether the dog food has made it to retail shelves.

Was this dog food made in China, or Mexico? Seems most of the recalls on our food and Dog food has came from these two Countries!
