Mom facing charges after head-on crash, 3 kids injured

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne mom is facing multiple charges after driving while intoxicated, Monday night. 34-year-old Sarah Esterline is currently being held on a $40,000 bond, according to the Journal Gazette. Her three kids are in the hospital after the head-on crash on Hatfield Road near Goshen Road.

Officers tell WOWO News, Esterline was driving at a high speed on Hatfield Road when she crossed the center line and crashed into an oncoming car.

11-year-old Aidan Esterline was listed in critical condition, 10-year-old Grant Esterline was also last listed in critical condition, and 3-year-old Hailey Esterline was determined to be in serious condition. Meanwhile, the three adults involved in the crash were all listed in good condition.

Esterline had a blood alcohol level of 0.159 percent. The legal limit in Indiana is 0.08 percent. Police found an open Budweiser in her car, and a Bud Light on the floor of the back seat.

Court documents said Esterline faces three counts of a neglect of a dependent resulting in serious injury, one count of criminal recklessness and three counts of causing serious injury while operating a motor vehicle in an intoxicated state.
