MERCER COUNTY, Ohio (WOWO): The Mercer County (Ohio) Sheriff’s Office has more information about the human bones that were found last January.
On Jan. 3, a walker found human bones along U.S. 127. The Mercer County police have been working to identify the victim and to learn how they died.
After eight months of investigation, the police believe the victim is a man 20 to 35 years old and is between 5-foot-6-inches and 6-foot-1-inch. They believe he was a victim of a homicide.
Mercer County police believe the bones were exposed to the elements for three to four months before they were found.
Investigators were able to find DNA and the DNA profiles are being loaded into data bases.
So far, all local missing people have been ruled out as a match. They’ve reached out to other states about missing people.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office at 567-890-8477, 419-586-1450 or through their website.
