FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – Mike’s Carwash locations are partnering with the Fort Wayne Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 124 this weekend to extend this year’s MDA Fill the Boot Campaign.

This Saturday and Sunday, Mike’s five Fort Wayne area locations will discount their Ultimate Wash to $15, and will donate $1 from each wash sold to the 2018 MDA Fill the Boot campaign.

The Ultimate Wash features FastWax, Wheel Bright, Underbody Wash and Tire Shine.

The extension comes after the City restricted firefighters from “filling the boot” at Fort Wayne intersections, something previously done each year.

Jeremy Bush of the Fort Wayne Professional Firefighters says the change cost the campaign thousands of dollars. Last year, they collected $100,000; this year, it was $36,000.

Mike Dahm, president of Mike’s Carwash, says he wanted to step up and help the firefighters reach their goal.

“They dedicate time every year to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association and we want to make sure that they are able to continue this important work,” said Dahm in a press release. “It’s an honor to partner with them in this mission and we look forward to seeing the impact our fundraiser will have on the Fort Wayne community.”

All Fort Wayne Mike’s locations are open from 7 a.m. – 9 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday.
