Man surrenders peacefully in Fort Wayne barricade situation

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): For more than three hours Friday, the Fort Wayne Police Department closed of parts of Sinclair Street for a barricaded suspect.

At about 3:10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, police were called to the 1400 block of Sinclair Street. When officers arrived, they tried to make contact with the suspect, but weren’t able to.

The Fort Wayne Police Department specialty teams were called to the home to attempt to get the subject to exit the home. When those attempts didn’t work, police used several aerosol type canisters of pepper gas, which worked.

The man exited the home and was hospitalized for evaluation.

Sinclair street was closed between Schiling and Franklin. The area was back to normal by 6:40 a.m.
