AUBURN, Ind. (WOWO): A man driving below the speed limit was rear ended on I-69 Monday night, causing the interstate to close down for a brief period of time.

The 83-year-old man from Vestaburg, Michigan, was pulling a homemade trailer near the Auburn exit.  A car, driven by a Waterloo woman came up behind the man quickly and rear ended the trailer around 9:54 p.m.

The man lost control and veered into the right shoulder and hit a guardrail. He said he was not hurt. The woman pulled into the other lane and ended up coming to a stop in the median. She was transported to the hospital because of abdomen pain.

That part of I-69 was shut down for a brief amount of time to allow for the cleanup of debris. They say the woman was wearing a seat belt, but the man was not.
