Man arrested for kidnapping girl from Fort Wayne bus stop

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – A man has been arrested for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a fifteen-year-old girl in Fort Wayne Thursday.

The girl was reportedly abducted from her bus stop and taken into a nearby shed, where she was then sexually assaulted Thursday morning.

She was talking to a friend on her cell phone when the abduction occurred. The victim’s friend then called the victim’s mother, and told her that her daughter was in danger.

When the victim’s mother arrived to the bus stop, she found the suspect holding her daughter. She yelled at the suspect, and he released the victim and fled. The mother called police while chasing the victim herself.

Fort Wayne police were called to the intersection of E. Rudisill Blvd. and Smith St. just after 8 a.m. and arrested William James Ray, 35. He was transported to a local hospital before his incarceration.

Ray faces the following charges:

  • Rape, Level 3 Felony
  • Kidnapping, Level 5 Felony
  • Criminal Confinement, Level 5 Felony
  • Burglary, Level 5 Felony
  • Sexual Battery, Level 6 Felony
