Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch announces rural grant

STATEHOUSE, Ind. (WOWO) – Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch announced today, that with the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs, a $10.8 million grant will be given to 19 rural communities in Indiana.

The state distributes Community Development Block Grant funds to rural areas to assist local governments with various community projects such as, downtown revitalization, public facility improvements, infrastructure improvements and economic development.

Columbia City will be one community to receive $700,000 in grant money.  The grant will help with improving the city’s wastewater system.  This will help with Columbia City’s ability to complete their long term environmental plan.

The first round of the 2019 CDBG program begins on March 25.  Proposals for the program are to be turned in by 4:00 p.m. on May 3, 2019.  Final due date for applications is at 4:00 p.m. on June 28, 2019.
