Komets sign three forwards, place Campbell on waivers

The Fort Wayne Komets have made some roster moves ahead of their regular season finale this weekend.

The team announced Wednesday that forwards Tanner Froese and Phelix Martineau have agreed to terms and have been added to the roster.

Froese, completed a four-year college career this year with St. Norbert College in the NCHA, winning the 2018 NCAA Division III National Championship. Froese served his senior year as captain of the Green Knights and scored college career highs of 14 goals, 20 assists and 34 points in 32 games. The Saskatchewan native was selected as the 2018 Frozen Four’s Most Outstanding Player and was also named a First-team AHCA All-American honoree.

Martineau, 20, recently completed a four-year collegiate career with Cape Breton. The Laval, Quebec native led the Screaming Eagles with 34 goals, 32 assists and 66 points while a senior captain this year. Martineau finished his college stint with three straight 20-plus goal seasons.

The team also added forward Anthony Petruzzelli to the roster. Petruzzelli made his pro debut with the Komets at Indianapolis last Saturday night. The Washington native logged four-years of college play with the University of Vermont this year scoring totals of 21 goals and 43 points in 140 career Hockey East games.

The Komets also announced Wednesday that defenseman Sean Campbell has been placed on waivers.

The Komets will finish their regular season with three games in three nights this weekend, starting Friday with a 7:15pm faceoff in Toledo, before back-to-back games Saturday and Sunday in Fort Wayne. You can listen to the games on WOWO.
