WARSAW, Ind. (AP) – A northern Indiana sheriff indicted on 10 felony counts including bribery and official misconduct will be tried in his home county.

The Goshen News reports that Elkhart Superior Court Judge Evan Roberts on Wednesday rejected a request by prosecutors to move the trial of Kosciusko County Sheriff C. Aaron Rovenstine. Roberts made that decision after conducting a test jury selection earlier this month to see if an impartial jury could be seated.

Rovenstine was indicted on the 10 felony charges in February. According to court records, Rovenstine allegedly accepted $40,000 in bribes so favors could be granted to aa jail inmate. Rovenstine also is accused of intimidating a Warsaw Police Department detective who had suspicions of Rovenstine’s activities.
