FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne woman charged with neglect over the death of her 2-year-old son will NOT get to have her trial elsewhere.

26-year-old Amber Garrett was arrested in February over the November 2017 death of Malakai Garrett.

Police say she knew her boyfriend, Mitchell Vanryn, was abusing the boy and did nothing to stop it. Vanryn is now facing murder charges.

Our Partners in News at ABC 21 report Garrett had asked for a change of venue for her trial, believing that news and social media coverage of the case could end up giving her an unfair trial, but that request was denied this week by an Allen County judge.
