INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (AP): A historic theater in downtown Indianapolis is set to get a $1.2 million makeover and a new name.

Athenaeum Theatre officials announced this week that the building’s west wing lobby and theater will be remodeled. Renovations are expected to be completed by the end of the year.

The Indianapolis Star reports that the theater renovations will include six large art glass windows, work on the building’s west wall, sound-proofing the east wall, and updating the light and sound systems. The lobby improvements will include the addition of a coffee and snack bar, Wi-Fi and new seating.

The theater will be renamed in honor of local philanthropists and lead donors Frank and Katrina Basile.

The 94,000-square-foot building was built in the late 1890s.
