FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): News broke Monday that Indiana Tech would be closing its Law School in Fort Wayne and now, College President Dr. Arthur Snyder, is discussing the closure.

He tells WOWO News, the Indiana Tech Law School incurred $20 million in losses and he cited low enrollment as causes for the closure. He went on to say that it was a difficult decision, but the law school won’t be able to attract enough students to remain viable.

“The number of students going to law school has declined and it continues to decline.”

Therefore, the board of trustees voted unanimously to close on June 30th of next year.

Current students not graduating by June 30, 2017 will be given the option to transfer elsewhere, but in the meantime, Snyder says college students in and around Fort Wayne shouldn’t be too worried.

“I’ll think they (students) will be very well served, I don’t think there’s cause for concern in the large part.”

Meanwhile work is underway to help affected faculty members find other jobs.

This closure comes on the heels of an announcement that IPFW would be restructuring and eliminating several programs as well.
