FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): This year’s Three Rivers Festival will have a fairly heavy police presence this year.

That’s because crime is up, according to the Fort Wayne Police Department, and 21Alive reports that security for this year’s festival is a big concern.

Director Jack Hammer says Fort Wayne police will be backed up by the FBI, Homeleand Security, and the ATF, both in uniform and undercover, looking out for any suspicious behavior.

Festival officials also have an emergency response plan ready in case something bad happens, ranging from severe weather to an active shooter situation.

The festival begins July 8th.
