Illinois man gets probation for Indiana casino fraud

ANDERSON, Ind. (AP): A 25-year-old Illinois man has been sentenced to eight years of probation on several felony charges related to casino fraud in Indiana.

Elliot J. Blunt pleaded guilty last month to fraud on a financial institution, corrupt business influence, fraud and theft. The Kokomo Tribune reports that Blunt admitted to being involved in illegal activity, from selling and using drugs to participating in a scheme involving stolen credit cards to swindle about $60,000 from two Indiana casinos, for the past 10 years.

He was sentenced Monday in Madison Circuit Court in Anderson. He said he understood that the judge gave him a rare deal and that he would stop making “dumb decisions.”

Blunt was one of five suspects in the fraud case.

Why wasn’t he at least ordered to pay the money back to the state? He must have had connections.
