Hundreds attend Fort Wayne gun control rally

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A rally held in downtown Fort Wayne over the weekend, calling for stricter gun control, drew hundreds of people.

Organized by IPFW student Brandon Blumenherst, attendees held signs with phrases like “18th century laws shouldn’t regulate 20th century weapons” and “enough is enough.” Blumenherst told WOWO’s Pat Miller why he felt the need to put the rally together:

“It started with Columbine, and now that’s not even one of the top ten shootings in the country. My entire academic life has seen school shooting after school shooting, and I’ve seen no action to help prevent it.”

Fort Wayne City Councilman Geoff Paddock was at the rally; the Journal Gazette reports he told the crowd he wants local police agencies to provide more security at school buildings.

So gun control is the answer? Let’s see. Trying to control the criminal element from getting a hold of guns which also infringes on the rights of the lawful. Making it a crime to possess such weapons. It works so well with drugs. The criminals will never get them then. I can’t wait for the success…
