STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO) – An Angola man has been arrested following a home invasion in Steuben County Thursday.

Steuben County deputies were called to the Tamarac Trails addition near CR 400 N around 3:40 a.m. Thursday after receiving reports of a man invading a home and assaulting the woman inside.

The woman was able to fight off her attacker, who then fled the residence.

When deputies arrived to the scene, they discovered the Angola City Police had received two previous reports of incidents occurring during the night that were similar to this case.

Police searched the area for the suspect based on the victim’s description, and located a suspect vehicle along I-69 near the Ramada Inn. Further investigation revealed the suspect had obtained a room at the inn, but fled when law enforcement converged on the area.

Police then issued a K9 track and began a door-to-door search of the Tamarac Trails addition. The suspect was located hiding in an outdoor shed.

Dwain Horner, 33 of Fox Lake, Angola, was arrested without incident. He faces charges of burglary with a deadly weapon, battery with bodily injury, criminal confinement, strangulation, and residential entry.

Police believe Horner is linked to the two previous Angola cases, but currently does not face any charges related to these incidents.
