Ft. Wayne Police investigating death of man found in alley

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Around 2:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a call for an unknown problem near the corner of Reed and Oxford.  Officers were told that a motorist was driving down an alley in the area and saw a man on the ground.  They called the police to check on the man as they were unsure if the man was injured.

Upon arrival, police discovered the man and saw that he was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  Paramedics and the Fort Wayne Fire Department started administering medical attention to the victim, but he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Fort Wayne Police Detectives and Crime Scene Technicians arrived on the scene and began looking over the scene for shell casings and other evidence.  Detectives were also looking for witnesses so that they could determine the timeline of the incident.  Police have no suspects at this time.

The identity of the victim and the manner of death will be release by the Allen County Coroner’s office at a later time.
