Fort Wayne weekend events, Feb. 9 – 11

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – This weekend is filled with events suitable for the whole family!

If you’re in the mood to celebrate Valentine’s Day, visit Science Central this Friday, or the Brush and Bakery this Saturday at Abigail’s Confections.

And attention sports lovers! There are a couple Komets games this weekend, as well as a Northern Indiana Golf Show.

My Cold Hearted Valentine presented by Science Central – Friday, Feb. 9 @ 6 p.m.
Kick off your Valentine’s Day weekend with a night of mystery and mingling at Science Central! Ticket prices range $25-$35 for singles, $45-$65 for couples. Interview suspects, and in true Science Central fashion, get “hands-on” while examining evidence.

Oscar Trivia Night at Cinema Center – Friday, Feb. 9 @ 7-8:30 p.m.
Catch up on your Oscars knowledge this Friday at the Cinema Center, 437 E. Berry St. Teams can have no more than six players, and there will be prizes for first, second and third place teams!

Love Notes 2018 – Friday, Feb. 9 and Saturday, Feb. 10 @ 7-9 p.m.
Attend this early Valentines Day event at Parkview Physicians Group ArtsLab, 300 E. Main St. For $100, you’ll receive table seating for two, including wine, roses and chocolates. General Admission seating is $20, or $50 for VIP.

Fort Wayne Komets vs. Wichita – Friday, Feb. 9 @ 7:30 p.m.
Cheer on the Fort Wayne Komets this Friday as they take on Wichita at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. Adult tickets range from $13-$28; children $8-$19.

A3rD (Art + Music Augmented) – Friday, Feb. 9 @ 8-10 p.m.
Attend an evening of live music combined with VR created art at PUNCH Films, 200 6th St. The classical/pop crossover group String Shift and original VR art installations are combined for an immersive concert experience. Admission is $20.

2018 Polar Plunge – Saturday, Feb. 10 @ 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
All plungers must raise a minimum of $75 in pledges in order to take the plunge at Metea County Park this Saturday at 10:30 a.m. After the plunge, participants and spectators are invited to join the After Splash Bash to enjoy food and beverages! All funds raise benefit Special Olympics.

2018 97.3 WMEE Baby Fair & Family Expo – Saturday, Feb. 10 @ 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Attend this event for free at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. The expo is the place for anything and everything to keep your family safe, healthy and happy! There will be chances to win great prizes and gifts all day long.

2018 Northern Indiana Golf Show – Saturday, Feb. 10 @ 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Sunday, Feb. 11 @ 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Attend this fun, two-day event at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum this Saturday and Sunday. The event features stage demonstrations, a demo driving range, skills challenges, golf simulators, door prizes and activities! There will also be many chances to win door prizes and all attendees will receive the latest issue of Fort Wayne Magazine’s Golf Guide and a one-year subscription to Golf Digest. Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for veterans, and kids 12 years and under are free.

The Old Fort: 1812 Winter Garrison – Saturday, Feb. 10 @ 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Attend this reenactment at The Old Fort for free! A winter at a frontier Fort was not easy, with soldiers chopping wood to stay warm and cooking their own meals. Visit with the soldiers and experience what life was like in 1812.

Fizz Fest 2018 – Summit City Craft Soda Festival & Winter Carnival – Saturday, Feb. 10 @ 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
For $5 admission, participants will receive 10 tasting tickets. Or, receive an Unlimited Tasting Wristband for $20. This event features more than 100 regional craft sodas, old school favorites and unique flavors. There will also be balloon animals, fortune tellers, costumed characters and more!

Brush and Bakery: Valentine’s Day – Saturday, Feb. 10 @ Noon – 3 p.m.
Abigail’s Confections teams up with Amber Broxon for this Valentine’s Day event: Dessert and Canvas. For $35, each participant will receive a 16×20 blank canvas and will be instructed by Amber on how to paint the selected piece. There will also be a full dessert buffet including brownie bites, mini cupcakes, tarts, punch, cookies, smores, pie, and candy! This event is for those 16 years and older.

Music Therapy Client Recital – Saturday, Feb. 10 @ 2:30-4 p.m.
Practicing music therapists will assist their client performers in demonstrating skills they have developed through music therapy services, which help develop social, motor, academic, self-help and music skills. This recital is free and open to the public at the Rhinehart Music Center at IPFW, 2101 East Coliseum Blvd.

Comedy Night with Alex Ortiz – Saturday, Feb. 10 @ 7:15-11:15 p.m. 
Alex Ortiz is one of the fastest rising stars in the comedy world. Attend this show at the Fort Wayne Comedy Club, 2104 S. Calhoun St., for $15 in advance or $20 at the door. This event is 21+.

Songs Without Words – Saturday, Feb. 10 @ 7:30-9:30 p.m.
For $35, attend this concert at First Wayne Street United Methodist Church, 300 East Main St. Songs include Serenade, Op. 44, D minor (Dvorak); Serenade, Op. 48, C major (Tchaikovsky); Songs Without Words (Mendelssohn/Arr. Hillemacher).

Allen County’s History as a Manufacturing and Innovation Hub – Sunday, Feb. 11 @ 2-3:15 p.m.
This presentation, hosted by The History Center, is free to the public this Sunday. Panelists include John Beatty, Phyllis Rob, Tom Castaldi, Ann Marshall, Deanna Wooley, and Todd Pelfrey (Moderator).
