FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Fort Wayne metro area had a 2.6% unemployment rate last month.

That number, up one tenth of a percentage point from April, coming from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development Monday.

The labor force in Fort Wayne is at 212,580 people, with a little more than 207,000 of them actually employed and 5,500 looking for work. Both numbers are also up slightly. Still, at 2.6%, Fort Wayne’s unemployment rate is significantly lower than the 4% reported at this time last year.

The Elkhart-Goshen metro area’s unemployment rate is up two-tenths of a point from last month to 2.1%.
