FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A 17-year-old boy is dead and another person is in serious condition after a shooting Wednesday night on Fort Wayne’s northeast side.

Dontay White of Fort Wayne died of gunshot wounds, according to the Allen County Coroner. His death has been ruled a homicide.

Fort Wayne Police were called to the 9100 block of Brickshire Parkway at 11:36 p.m. after a resident heard gunshots in the area.

When police arrived they found a car parked in the street. Both victims were inside the car and were suffering from gunshot wounds. They were both taken to a local hospital, where White was pronounced dead.

Police say the shooter and witness were in the same vehicle when the shooter opened fire.

Police spokesman Michael Joyner said detectives have a person of interest and police are in the process of finding the individual.

This is the 11th homicide in Allen County this year.
