Fort Wayne hosting U.S. Roller Hockey Championships

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Hockey fans may want to head to the SportONE Parkview Icehouse this weekend as it hosts the “State Wars” United States Roller Hockey Championships now through August 7th.

The 12-day tournament started Wednesday and expects to bring in more than 10,000 players, parents and tournament officials, including 274 teams with 3,000 participants.

Visit Fort Wayne estimated the sporting event will generate nearly $3-million in direct economic impact.

“We are thrilled to welcome State Wars back to Fort Wayne,” said Visit Fort Wayne’s Stephanie Coleman. “It’s an incredible sporting event for our community and is Fort Wayne’s largest sporting event of the year. These players will not only compete in Fort Wayne, but their families will get the opportunity to explore our city.”

Admission is free to the public and a full schedule of games can be found here.
