Finale event for Indiana bicentennial celebration is Sunday

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Residents across the state are invited to a final celebration marking the 200th anniversary of Indiana becoming a state.

Gov. Mike Pence is expected to attend Sunday’s event at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum at the fairgrounds. According to a news release, the vice president-elect will also take part in a Saturday evening gala.

Sunday’s event is from 10 a.m. to noon. Parking and admission are free. There’ll be speakers along with music and dancing.

It’s the finale event of the year-long bicentennial celebration.  Indiana became the 19th state on Dec. 11, 1816.
