Fatal motorcycle crash in Fort Wayne Monday, investigation underway

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – One person has died after a motorcycle crash in Fort Wayne Monday.

Fort Wayne police responded to the report of an accident with injuries involving two motorcycles at the Calhoun Street and Lexington Avenue intersection around 6:20 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers found two motorcycles lying in the roadway. One of the drivers was found unresponsive and rushed to a local hospital in critical condition, but died a short time later.

The other driver was reportedly in fair condition.

An investigation revealed the two motorcycles were traveling south on Calhoun Street approaching the Branning Street intersection when they lost control, as the road had recently been milled for resurfacing.

Calhoun Street was closed to all traffic from Branning Street to Lexington Avenue while an investigation was underway, and it is not currently known if speed or alcohol played a factor in the crash.
