FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO):  As of 9:00 a.m., Friday, the northbound lane of Lafayette Street was CLOSED at Pontiac Street due to a fatal crash.

Mike Joyner, spokesperson for the Fort Wayne Police Department, tells WOWO News, they are anticipating that area to be closed for at least the next hour.

In the meantime, traffic is being diverted onto Oxford. Joyner says to avoid the area by taking Hanna, Anthony, Fairfield or Calhoun streets instead.
