Del Monte vegetable trays recalled over parasite infections

Recall

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Time to check your fridge for another recalled food product.

The Food and Drug Administration says vegetable trays from Del Monte Fresh could contain Cyclospora cayetanensis, a parasite that’s known for causing an infection known as cyclosporiasis, which causes everything from vomiting and flu-like symptoms to severe cases of diarrhea and “explosive bowel movements”, as well as loss of appetite, stomach pain, and fatigue.

If not treated the illness could last a month or longer. So far 78 cases of the infection have been reported. The trays were sold to select retailers in Indiana, Michigan, and several other midwestern states.
