FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): It’s another step forward for the Electric Works project.

The Fort Wayne City Council approved a rezoning petition for the former General Electric factory site just south of downtown, clearing the way for future developments, according to the Journal Gazette.

Developers RTM Ventures filed the petition to change the former GE campus from “industrial” to “commercial,” to accommodate their plans for a mixed-use site that includes retail, residential, and educational spaces.

RTM is still working on securing a total of $65-million in public funding for the first phase of the project.
